Dr. Stephen Gross grew up in Media, Pennsylvania and received his undergraduate degree from Haverford College. His veterinary education took place entirely at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Immediately following his board certification, he became the staff ophthalmologist at the Animal Medical Center in New York City and remained in that position for 10 years. While in New York, he became one of the first veterinary ophthalmologists to learn the phacoemulsification cataract extraction technique taught by the human ophthalmologist, Dr. Charles Kelman, who first developed the technique.
Dr. Gross left New York and returned to the Delaware Valley sixteen years ago and divides his practice between Metropolitan Veterinary Associates and the Matthew J. Ryan Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He now lives in Malvern, PA with his wife, two daughters, and two dogs.
