Dr. McGough has been working in the veterinary field since the age of 15. Getting his start as a kennel worker, he progressed as a part-time receptionist and technician while attending the Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA. After earning his bachelors degree in animal bioscience, Dr. McGough attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine from 1998 to 2002. Since that time he has been employed as an emergency veterinarian at Metropolitan Veterinary Associates. He feels that the high quality of medicine practiced by the veterinarians and the great level of care provided by the nursing staff is unique to Metropolitan.
As an emergency veterinarian, Dr. McGough most enjoys performing endoscopic removal of GI foreign bodies and laceration repairs. Outside of work he enjoys landscaping, kickboxing, and lots of TV. He currently resides in West Chester, PA with his wife Jen, a former classmate who also practices emergency veterinary medicine. Together they have two young and ill-behaved beagle-bassets (Ernie & Bella), two cats (Little Man and Biggie Smalls), and two rabbits (Patootie and Waffles).
