James Buckman received a BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 1994, a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of California San Francisco in 2000, and a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007. His research interests included enzymology and protein-small molecule interactions. His professional focus at present is emergency and critical care medicine, and the application of research-based therapy to real world medical problems.
He enjoys chess, music, and spending time with his family. His first pet was a rough-coated collie dog named Brandy.
